Pregnancy Fitness checklist

from babycenter.com

Staying in good physical condition while you're pregnant can mean an easier delivery and quicker recovery. Here's what you'll need.

  • Essentials
  • Nice extra's
  • Workout Tips

Essentials

  • Pregnancy workouts and pregnancy books
Get the benefits of an expert-led class in your own home
  • Water bottle
Dehydration can cause contractions and raise your temperature
  • Support bra's
To comfortably support your larger, more sensitive breasts
  • Comfortable shorts (2-3)
Comfy workout wear for warm days and indoor classes
  • Comfortable tops (3-5)
Choose something loose fitting that breathes well.
  • Comfy pants (2-3)
Comfy workout wear for cold days and cool gyms
  • Warm-up jacket or sweatshirt
To avoid feeling chilled when your exercise session ends
  • Athletic shoes that fit
If swelling changes your shoe size, you'll need a pregnancy pair

Nice extras

  • yoga mat
Extra cushioning for floor exercises (and to do yoga safely)
  • Hand or ankle weights
Weights can add oomph to your workout (with your doctor's okay)
  • Support belt
A maternity undergarment with elastic support for your tummy
  • Bathing suit
Swimming is great low-impact exercise during pregnancy

Tips

Walking is the easiest and cheapest exercise, and you can build it into your daily routine. Just wear comfortable clothing and shoes -- no special equipment required.

If you love the weightless feeling of being in water but don't want to swim, sign up for a water aerobics class (also a great way to meet other moms-to-be).
