Instructor Christa Riley (Suggs)
Fitness History
I studied ballet, jazz and tap as a child an through my teen years. During
college I decided I wanted to get stronger so I joined The FIRM and soon after
began teaching - it took one FIRM class and I was hooked!
Fitness Secret
The secret to fitness is consistency. It does not matter how long or hard you
work out - as long as you keep it up.
Nutritional Secrets
The two main foods I try to avoid are bread and sugar. I learned that if I
stay away from sugar I feel better and don't crave it like I used to. I also try
to eat protein at every meal - this help give me lots of energy throughout the
day. I eat three meals a day with a couple snacks, like an apple with
all-natural peanut butter. Aftger dinner is when I usually want something sweet
so I have low-fat ice cream or some light hot cocoa.
Secrets for Beginner
It is important to start off with no weights and work your way up - you will
be amazed at how strong you can get! I never get on scales. In high school I
alway HATED getting on scales because I am tall and tended to weigh more than my
friends. When I began teaching at The FIRM I realized that muscle weighs more
than fat. I was a smaller size but weighed the same! I just stay off scales
because I am very happy with my body and I don't want some 'number' to make me
feel bad about myself!
