Fitness History
My fitness program began post-children. I began taking classes at The FIRM in
1995 and began teaching FIRM classes in the fall of that year. Fitness time is
my therapy! It helps me clear my mind and focus on myself. If I don't take time
for myself I get stressed out! I feel better, healthier and happier when I've
worked out.
Fitness Secrets
Have a fitness partner. When someone else is counting on you, you can't
procrastinate. Make sure you execute proper form before you add or increase
weights.
Nutritional Secrets
Avoid late night snacking by getting on the treadmill, taking a shower, or
going to bed!
Secrets for Beginners
Start slow and be patient! Make sure you are performing the exercises
correctly - if your form is not correct you will not get the results you want!
Make a rpomise to yourself that you will stick to your workout schedule and eat
healthy food. Before you know it, fitness will become a way of life.
Cross-train!
You need to constantly challenge or 'surprise' your muscles if you want to
get results and prevent over-training. FIRM videos allow you to do this because
each one has a different emphasis. I like to alternate heavy aerobic weight
traing workouts with light weight cardio routines. This keeps me lean because I
don't lose muscle AND I burn extra calories.
